    Developing Your Instinct

In a fast-paced world, trusting your instincts is a vital skill. This is a skill that most people do not exercise out of the fear of making a mistake and the urge to overthink. Instincts are more than just gut feelings; your experiences, knowledge, and subconscious cues shape them. Here’s how to develop this subtle yet powerful guide:

    1. Practice Mindfulness: Stay present and mindful to better tune into your surroundings and inner self. This enhances your connection with your instincts. Example, try listening to someone without trying to anticipate what they are about to say or crafting a response in your mind while they are speaking.
    2. Trust Your Gut: Start making small decisions based on your gut feelings. As positive outcomes follow, your confidence in your instinct will grow.
    3. Reflect on Past Decisions: Analyze past instances where you followed your instinct. Identify patterns to better understand when and why your instinct kicks in.
    4. Welcome every Experience: Broaden your horizons. Welcome experiences without labeling or judging them. This is still a hard one for me. Diverse experiences enrich your subconscious knowledge, sharpening your instinct.
    5. Listen to Your Body: Instincts often manifest physically—like a quickened heartbeat or a sense of unease. Pay attention to these cues.
    6. Stop looking for Logic: Instinct may complement logic do not look for logic to justify your instincts. Instincts help you step out of your comfort zone, logic doesn’t.

Developing your instinct is about fostering a deeper connection with the most powerful part of yourself – your subconscious, the seat intelligence within you. This is the part of you that keeps the heart beating without thought, keeps the millions of cells and billions of neurons in our body doing what they need to do to keep you alive. It deserves more credit and awareness!
