Struggling With Self Doubt? Top 10 Tips To Boost Your Confidence

Doubt can be useful at times because it allows you to see your current limitations more clearly or simply recognize a half-baked idea. But for the most part, negative thoughts hold you back in life and keep you from daring amazing things. Living a life less than you are capable because you won’t let yourself!

So, how do you get around this? How do you overcome those moments of self-doubt and move forward irrespective?
In this article, I’ll share 10 tips and habits that have helped me quiet my destructive inner voice.

    • Master the art of stopping.
First, when your inner doubts arise, act quickly, don’t let them spiral out of control or grow from a whisper to a stream of discouraging sentences that make you doubt your abilities and magnify minor setbacks into major stop signs.
Instead, converse with that doubtful part of yourself say or shout something like, “No, no, no, we’re not going down that road again! You can disrupt the thought pattern and prevent the inner critic from taking over by doing so.
    • Be honest with yourself.
Be real with yourself and ask yourself this important question:
How many people have died from daring this? How many times have my doubt or fear ever come to pass after I still took action?
The answer for me – and probably for you too – is simple NO or NOT very often!
Self-doubts are most often just monsters in your head keeping you from making changes and in your comfort zone. Growth begins at the end of your Comfort Zone!
    • Be open to discussing it.
When you keep your thoughts to yourself, they can become distorted, exaggerated, and out of step with reality or reasonable expectations. This is especially true when it comes to self-doubt thoughts and feelings.
Allow them to come out into the light. Discuss your self-doubts with someone close to you, such as a good friend or a Coach. Simply letting them out and saying them aloud can often help you recognize how exaggerated these thoughts have become.
And talking about your doubts with someone who is encouraging can help you change your mind.
    • Avoid Comparisons
If you constantly compare yourself to others, to their successes, especially to the highlight reels they share on social media, self-doubt in the form of imposter syndrome – can quickly creep in.
Instead, the best way to proceed is to compare the current You to the You (the you are capable of yourself.
To see how far you’ve progressed. To see what you’ve accomplished and to see how you’ve persevered, succeeded, and grown as a person.
    • Keep track of your progress.
Keeping a journal can be a beneficial habit for a variety of reasons.
When it comes to self-doubt, it can assist you in the following ways:
      1. Keep a true record of your life.
And, if you are prone to remembering things with a negative slant and focusing too much on past failures, it will assist you in remembering the positive things, successes you have had, and how you have overcome obstacles.
      2. Improve your clarity.
It is often easier to alleviate fears and doubts and gain clarity when you have an issue written down or in a computer document rather than trying to go through it all in your head.
Making lists of pros and cons, going over your thoughts and emotions, recalling similar events from the past, and writing down different perspectives on the issue all help to find solutions and see your challenges in a clearer and more level-headed light.
